Sonos’ brand’s ad-free signature station, Sonos Sound System, launches Object of Sound, a weekly radio show and podcast hosted by poet and cultural critic Hanif Abdurraqib. The show will take a dive deep into the music of the moment and the stories surrounding the songs of today and culminate with a curated playlist with Abdurraqib. Guests will include Moses Sumney, Jenna Wortham, Kimberly Drew, Sudan Archives, Jeff Tweedy, and Open Mike Eagle.

PKPR secured an awesome profile of Abdurraqib by Justine Goode of Vanity Fair, who said the podcast “features fascinating, insider conversations with musicians, but deliberately operates outside the churn of a press cycle, or the coldness of the algorithm.” Other recent interviews include OkayPlayer, HyperAllergic, and InsideHook.

Sonos Radio launches Object of Sound podcast

PKPR is handling publicity for the launch of Object of Sound, a new music and culture podcast from Sonos Radio hosted by poet and cultural critic Hanif Abdurraqib. Combining the intimate storytelling of a podcast with the genre-jumping joy of freeform radio, Object of Sound offers multiple ways to discover new music in an age of algorithmic playlists.

The New York Times, The Guardian, and Stuff have all hailed it as one of the best new podcasts of 2021. PKPR has also secured interviews for Hanif in Flaunt, Forbes, and Under the Radar, while outlets like BoingBoing, The Fader, and BookForum have sung the praises of individual episodes.
