Senior Account Executive

PKPR (http://www.pkpr.com) is a boutique PR firm. We are seeking a Senior Account Executive to provide support on a diverse mix of nonprofit (arts, literary, environment, social justice) and lifestyle accounts (design, architecture, crafts). This is a great opportunity to develop your skills by being mentored by the firm’s founder.

The ideal candidate is someone who is:

  • Experience managing 3-4 large accounts and managing and delegating work to junior team members
  • A track record of placing stories in a range of national and local media across print, broadcast, and online
  • An excellent writer with experience in writing pitches, press releases, and bylines/op-eds
  • Can leverage existing contacts, bring in new partners, and foster relationships to grow a client’s profile and impact
  • On top of the latest current events and pop culture and business trends—and always on the lookout for ways that clients can capitalize on them
  • Curious, outgoing, energetic, and eager to learn

Candidate requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in PR, communications, journalism, or political science
  • 4-5 years of experience in PR including day-to-day account management, media relations, and writing
  • Based in the New York City area. This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days in the office each week for the first six months and then 2-3 days in offer thereafter.

Paid Internship, Fall 2023

If you are a student (class of 2023, 2024, 2025) looking to learn how to use your creativity to drive social change, then this is a great opportunity to join our five-person team at PKPR (http://www.pkpr.com).

In our 15+ years, we’ve helped our clients curb fake news on Facebook, build the restorative justice movement, secure same-sex marriage in New York State, launch Lin-Manuel Miranda’s career, and position a podcasting startup to be acquired by Spotify for $56 million.

This paid internship is a hybrid position, with the ideal candidate available to work at least 20 hours per week, including 1-2 days per week in our office in Manhattan’s Financial District. You should be comfortable working with a small, close-knit team. The length of the internship is flexible.

The ideal candidate is someone who has:

  • A strong interest in either of the firm’s two specialties: nonprofits focused on the environment, conservation, climate, and the arts OR lifestyle brands focused on design, creativity, fitness, and fashion.
  • On top of the latest current events, media trends, and pop culture—and a sense for how clients can capitalize on it
  • Experience in managing multiple projects and deadlines
  • Excellent writing, research, and organizational skills

Responsibilities will include:

  • Researching topics and issues related to client accounts
  • Researching journalists and creating media lists
  • Drafting press releases and pitches
  • Monitoring press coverage for clients and creating coverage reports
  • Assist with managing and drafting content for PKPR social media and website

Candidate requirements:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in PR, communications, journalism, or related field

  • Past public relations internship.
